Baptism of Holy Spirit

Christianity recognize three kinds of baptism: Water Baptism, Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Baptism of Fire. Water baptism is done by humans, whereas two other baptism is determined by God. This article will discuss the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

As we know, the baptism is absorbed from the word “baptizo” torpedoed meaningful whole. Baptism of the Holy Spirit, or baptized with the Holy Spirit means: drowned in the Holy Spirit. This seems different to “receive the Holy Spirit,” which in this context can mean the plural: 1) simply received but not full (not to drown) and 2) received in the amount of “many” to “drown”.

We will see first, how many times the disciples of Jesus received the Holy Spirit? Only once? Or repeatedly?

Jn 20:19-23

19 When it was late on the first day of the week Jesus’ disciples gathered in a place with locked doors because they feared the Jews. At that time, Jesus came and stood among them and said: “Peace be with you!”
20 And having said this, He showed His hands and His side to them. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
21 Then Jesus said again: “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, so I now send you. “
22 And having said this, He breathed on them and said: “Receive the Holy Spirit.
23 If you forgive the sins of man, his sins forgiven, and if you declare the sins of men remained there, his sin remains. ”

The incident happened some time after Jesus was resurrected. Paragraph (22) describe how Jesus was blowing (breathed) of the disciples and they received the Holy Spirit. Jesus was not laid hands on him, but just blows them, …

Paragraph (23) explained that after the disciples received the Holy Spirit, they have authority to: forgive or not forgive sins. But if you look, the disciples did not speak of the Spirit, because they did receive the Holy Spirit, but apparently not yet full, …

Now we go to the famous verse, namely the Holy Spirit outpouring of events conducted by the Lord Jesus to His disciples (plus  believers)  in the Day of Pentecost.

Acts 2:1-11
1 When I arrived the day of Pentecost, all believers gather in one place.
2 Suddenly a sound from heaven came down like a hard wind that filled the whole house where they sat;
3 and it appears to them like tongues of flame scattered and perch on their own.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, then they began to speak in other languages, such as those given by the Spirit to them to say it.
5 At that time in Jerusalem, the Jews still pious from every nation under heaven.
6 When it comes down the sound, the crowd gathered. They are confused because they each heard the apostles speak in their own language.
7 They were all astonished and amazed, and said: “Are not they all say that men of Galilee?
8 How can we each heard them speaking in our own language, the language we use in our home country:
9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and Libya areas adjacent to Cyrene, migrant-settlers from Rome,
11 both Jews and Jewish proselytes, Cretans and Arabs people, we hear them speaking in our own languages about the great deeds God has done. ”

At that time the Holy Spirit descending from heaven, like a hard wind (verse 2) seems like a burning flame, and came to the (only) the disciples of Jesus and those who believe  in Him(verse 3). Other people who were also present, but not a believer, they were not overcome by the Holy Spirit.

The apostles and the believers were filled with the Holy Spirit (verse 4), then they are compelled to speak of the Spirit tongue That (it seems) for the first time the Apostles of Jesus and the believer the Spirit speaks.

If the reception of the Holy Spirit in John 20:22 to give authority (full rights) to the Apostles to forgive sins, then Baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:1-11 gives the authority (the full right and power) to: be witnesses of Jesus (Acts 1 : 8), for example, enabled Peter delivered the sermon (Acts 2:14-40) so that day there were 3000 peoples asked for baptism of water. And the amount  of believer  increases as a result of 3000 souls who accompanied Peter sermon power of the Spirit that meet these apostles.

Another impact of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the authority to perform miracles. The apostles of Jesus had done many miracles and signs (Story 2:43). Peter heals the lame:

Acts 3:1-10
1 On a day before prayer time, ie three in the afternoon, Peter and John went up into the temple.
2, where there was a man, who was paralyzed since birth, so he must diusung.Tiap every day people had been placed near the gate of the temple, which is called the Gate Beautiful, to ask for alms to people who entered into the temple.
3 When he saw that Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms.
4 They looked at him and Peter said: “Look at us.”
5 Then he looked at them with the hope to get something from them.
6 But Peter said: “Gold and silver do not have it, but what kupunyai, I give you: the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!”
7 Then he held his right hand man and helped him berdiri.Seketika was also strong legs and eyes of the man’s feet.
8 He jumped up and walk more to come and follow them into the temple, walking and jumping and praising God.
9 All the people saw him walking and praising God,
10 and they recognized him as the man who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, so they were amazed and stunned about what had happened to him.

The Bible was noted again that the apostles of Jesus can still be filled with the Holy Spirit for another purpose: to give more courage to preach the gospel.

Acts 4:21-31
21 They are increasingly hard to threaten the apostles, but eventually released them as well, because the court did not see a way to punish them for fear that the people who glorify God’s name in connection with what has happened.
22 For he who was miraculously healed was over forty years old.
23 After the release of Peter and John went to their friends, and they told everything that is said to the chief priests and the elders told them.
24 When their friends hear it, they cried out to God together, he said: “O God, thou hast made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in it.
25 And by the Holy Spirit by the hand of thy servant David, our father, thou hast said: Why are violent nations, ethnic groups and why they matter they are in vain?
26 The kings of the world get ready and rulers gathered together against the Lord and His anointed one.
27 For, truly, have gathered in this city of Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with many nations and tribes of Israel against Jesus, your holy servant, whom You anointed,
28 to implement all things which thou hast set from the beginning by the power and your will.
29 And now, O Lord, look how they threaten us and give to thy servants the courage to preach thy word.
30 Stretch out your hands to heal people, and Hold the signs and miracles by the name of Jesus, your holy servant. “
31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they preach the word of God with boldness.

Paragraph (31) so clearly explained that the apostles of Jesus were filled with the Holy Spirit, and as a result they obtained additional courage to preach the gospel with the Holy Spirit is more powerful.

That is, one can (should) receive the Holy Spirit, the fullness of the Holy Spirit may even repeatedly. This is mainly going to happen to Christians who preach the Gospel, serving the “sheep” of Jesus Christ. But according to the opinion of the writer, every Christian needs the Holy Spirit-filled as often as possible.

We’re back to the apostles.

The harder they preach the gospel, then the more powerful miracles, so that Peter’s shadow could heal the sick (read = the power of the Holy Spirit worked through the shadow of Peter) here:

Acts 5:12-16
12 And the apostles held many signs and miracles among the people. All believers are always gathered in Solomon’s Porch in close communion.
13 other people no one dared to join himself to them. But they are very respected people.
14 And more and more bertambahlah number of people who believe in God, whether male or female,
15 even they brought the sick out into the streets, and laid her on the couch and cushion, so that, when Peter passed, at least the shadow of one of them.
16 And also the people from the towns around Jerusalem came in throngs and bring people who are sick and disturbed people who are evil spirits. And they were all healed.

Now we will study the how a person can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

FIRST: BSE BAPTISM THAT WE NEED TO THANK THE HOLY SPIRIT

Jesus replied: “I tell you the truth if one is not born of water and the Spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God. (John 3:5)

The verse describes the importance of a person born of the Spirit, which is to receive the Spirit Baptism. Because if not, then he can not enter the kingdom of God (can not enter heaven).

SECOND: JESUS ONLY BAPTISM THE HOLY SPIRIT TO WHOM BELIEVE IN HIM

But all who received Him He gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in His name; (John 1:12)

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and ye shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Only those who believe and accept Jesus as his Savior that will be given the Holy Spirit. After someone receives the Holy Spirit, he will be enabled by the Holy Spirit to defend his faith in Jesus. Without faith in Jesus, a person will not be baptized with the Holy Spirit, for God to free each person to trust Him or reject Him (the principle of free will).

THIRD: ASKED BY FAITH

Once you understood how important it is baptized with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you begin to miss him (it was the first writer ever do), then with a round hearts, open our hearts to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, then stay one step farther:

“ASK baptize in Holy Spirit (by faith)”

Luke 11:9-13
9 Therefore I say to you: Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek, and ye shall receive, knock, the door will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives, and every person who seeks finds, and everyone who knocks, the door opened.
11 Father Which of you, if his son asks for a fish from him, will give his son a snake to replace the fish?
12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
13 So if you are evil know to give good gifts to your children, let alone your Father in heaven! He will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. ”

The verses are the words of Jesus Christ is 100% trustworthy, and God could not deny His own Word.

Go into the room, point your heart to Jesus, and pray like this:

“Lord Jesus,..
I believe in You, please be my Master, please be my King, please be my Savior. I need baptism of Holy Spirit. Now, please baptize me with Holy Spirit. In Thy name I have prayed. Amen

You can have two possibilities. First, you feel like receive nothing. But believe me, that you have received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Second, you suddenly like an electric shock of high voltage, … Just thank to God. If your lips vibrates, follow its vibrations , then you will speak of the Spirit tongue. You do not have a headache thinking about the meaning of the word you’re saying. The Holy Spirit is doing. Give thanks with your heart.

Neither the first nor the possibility that the two will bring a similar effect: your heart will feel new. You are so peaceful, so fresh, because you’ve just experienced a new birth of the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 36:26-27
26 You will give a new heart and new spirit within your mind and I will be away from your body hardened hearts and obedient heart that I gave to you.
27 I will give my Spirit dwells in your mind and I’ll make you live by all my statutes and stick to my rules and do it.
